What is Laser Scanning parts?
Laser Scanners are tools that collate information of a shape by using Laser and Images. The data collected (in a Mesh Cloud format) can then be used to reproduce 3D CAD Models. It should be noted that it is not as simple as just scanning an item and one then has 3D CAD model. The format of a Laser Scan can only be used as a reference model. Therefore the creation of a new 3D CAD model from a Laser Scan usually involves the following steps:
- Prepare and Laser Scan Part
- Clean Up scan data
- Using Scan Data as a Reference create fresh 3D CAD model
How do we 3D Laser scan part to reproduce the components on 3D CAD?
We Laser Scan parts that require Reverse Engineering. With the scanned data we create fresh 3D CAD model in CAD Software packages such as Solidworks. From the 3D CAD model we are then able to create new Manufacturing Drawings.
