As part of our CAD services we can also generate coordination drawings
What are Coordination Drawings?
Coordination Drawings are mainly used in the building industry (MEP) where many disciplines (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing etc.) and therefore companies work in the same space. Coordination is as important where Steel Fabrication have to share the same space as Masonry Building (Stairs, Structural Frame etc.). Here the coordination needs to be between the Architect, Structural Engineer, Steel Fabricator and other disciplines such as Curtain Wall Designer etc.)
Coordination has to take place at a top-level otherwise a successful installation will have failures and costly rectification works.
What kind of Coordination Drawings do we offer?
We offer MEP coordination drawings as well as construction/fabrication coordinated drawings. We do not simply overlay everything on CAD and present the result.
We will get all parties involved to gain the latest information. Based on the information we might request site visits and coordination meetings to rectify any clashes.
We usually go through the following process:
- Establish all parties involved
- Contact parties and obtain the latest drawings
- Carry out Overlays in 2D & 3D CAD to check for interference/clashes
- Coordinate between all parties to remove any clashes
- Submit Coordinated Drawings for Approval
The use of 3D modelling has become increasingly popular, and more and more traditional 2D-based manufacturers are beginning to recognise the advantage of communicating their designs in the 3D format. Although transferring across to 3D may at first seem a momentous...
